A Miracle Plate is a thin Faceted plate of Gold or Silver with a hole in the center to set the Diamond. Since it creates an illusion by which the diamond looks larger than it is, because of the miracle plate, it is also called Illusion setting.
Illusion Setting is a kind of setting that is very different from Prong, Pave, Bezel, Flush, Channel. It is a kind of a setting where tiny diamonds are studded on each miracle plate, which is soldered onto the top of jewellery items. By doing this, that tiny diamond gives an illusion of there being a very large solitaire. Hence it is called Illusion Setting.
The entire purpose of the miracle plate is that when a tiny diamond is set on this plate, because of the faceted cuts on the plate, it ensures maximum light reflection and hence gives the illusion of a bigger diamond. The entire plate with the diamond in the center looks like one big diamond and the cuts of the plate look like the facets of the diamond.
Miracle Plates are gaining popularity because they create the impact of large size diamonds inspite of the diamonds being very small. Hence the whole idea of “less cash more flash” is brought about by this kind of plates through Illusion Setting of diamonds. It began with America, but has become popular in Hong Kong, Japan, China, Thailand, UAE and even in India.

Miracle Plates are preferred to be made in White Gold, as the entire purpose is for it to look like a diamond, hence it obviously has to be made in white gold and then even rhodium plated for better shinier effect.
